About this work
A soldier on guard, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a specific type of firearm) at his right side, his left hand around the fork of the fork (musket fork) on which the barrel, pointing diagonally upward, rests. In his left hand he also holds a burning match. With his right hand the soldier removes his hat. This print is part of the series of 43 hand-numbered prints of musketeers in the Wapenhandelinghe.
