Salinometer

Salinometer, incomplete. It consists of a heavy copper pipe or vessel with two pipes at the bottom. One pipe has a tap and serves as the inlet for boiler water; the vessel is filled and excess water flows via an overflow to the second pipe out of the vessel. This allows for measuring a constant flow of boiler water to determine an average. After the measurement, the water remaining in the vessel can be drained via the outlet pipe using a second tap. Inside the vessel are a brass cylinder for the hydrometer (missing) and a thermometer. On the outside, a small lamp and a round reflective mirror on a hinged arm are attached to allow reading the salinometer in the dark boiler room. A mounting plate is attached to the back. The inscription on the front features the English coat of arms.
