Model of Lumley's Patent Rudder

Model of a rudder, rudder post, and parts of the keel, sternpost, and two decks, on a baseboard. It was once poorly restored. The sternpost has a heel and four rudder posts; the rudder post is round and extends to the upper deck, where a short rudder tiller is attached. The rudder blade is vertically divided into two parts, the rear part with four rudder posts attached to the front. Because the rear blade is connected to the rudder post with an S-shaped hinge, it swings out further when the rudder is turned. The hinge is attached to the rudder post with a long pin that can be removed. A protractor is scratched into the baseboard.
