Model of a Masted Mast

Round mast with square top, ears, partners, shrouds, reefing scale and side scales. The mast foot is fairly square and consists of eight parts: the square mast cap is, unlike other masts, placed diagonally, i.e. with the corners towards the sides of the mast, so that the cheeks are triangular in cross-section, their outer side rounded. From the mast step, three cheeks are added at the back that run all the way up, while the front three parts stop just above the shrouds; from this point the mast again consists of eight parts and becomes square again. The parts are held together by a large number of hoop bands. Two side scales reinforce the whole; they also support the shrouds together with the ears, which are not attached to the sides but to the front of the mast with irons and bolts. Two cross-shrouds and partners are laid on the shrouds, and between the ears a riding bed is attached, which is extended downwards into a reefing scale.
