About this work
Model of a spit on a floorboard. The drum, suspended between two cheeks, has no holes for windlasses: the spit is operated with a single windlass on the starboard cheek, which engages a pawl in a gear wheel. In the center stands a support with two wooden pawls that engage the gear section of the drum to prevent backsliding. An additional gear wheel with a pawl is attached to the port cheek. Scale 1:10 (estimate).
