Model of a Pump Windlass

Model of a spit on a floor plank. The drum, suspended between two cheeks forming the spit bed with two dogs each, has four 'Brown' clamps on each side. The spit is operated with two windlasses on a yoke on the central support: toothed wheels run around the drum, into which pawls engage, each connected to one side of the yoke, which lock during upward movement and are free when falling. The central support also has five metal pawls that engage the toothed section of the drum to prevent backsliding. The cheeks can each be taken apart into two halves. Scale 1:10 (estimate).
