Model of a spit on a floorboard. The octagonal drum, suspended between two cheeks that form the spit frame with two cranks each, is also equipped with small drums outside the cheeks. The spit is operated with two windlasses on a yoke on the support in the center: two rails run around the drum, on which braking mechanisms run that block on upward movement and are free when they fall, and which are each connected to a side of the yoke. The connecting rods between yoke and braking mechanisms can be set in two positions for two forces. The support in the center also has five metal pawls that engage the gear section of the drum to prevent backsliding. The cheeks can each be taken apart into two halves. Scale 1:10 (estimate).
