Model of an Installation for Tarring Rope Yarn

Model of a device for tarring cable yarns on a baseboard. The operation of the model remains unclear. On one side, a tar reservoir is suggested with two holes through which a rope can run. On the other half, a framework with gear mechanism is erected: it looks like a press, but this remains uncertain. Two heavy wheels rotate on each other: the flat surface of the upper one rotates in the groove of the lower one. A set of cheeks that follows the circumference of the lower wheel lies on top of it and guides the upper wheel. The movement of both wheels is synchronized by a set of double gears next to the wheels. The upper wheel with gears is mounted in a frame that can be moved up and down on one side with the help of a lever with a weight, probably to regulate the pressure. The lower wheel is driven by a crank, which is missing, and has a gear wheel on the side of the frame that, probably with a pawl that is now missing, prevented back-running.
