Model of a Windlass

Model of a spit on a floorboard. The drum, suspended between two cheeks that form the spit frame with two cranks each, has holes for windlasses only on the starboard side: two continuous and four shallow holes. The spit can also be operated with a single windlass on the starboard side, which engages a pawl in a gear wheel. In the center stands a support with two wooden pawls that engage the gear section of the drum to prevent backsliding. The cheeks or spit frame can each be taken apart into two halves. In the floorboard is a rectangular hole for an unknown purpose. Scale 1:10 (estimate).
