About this work

Percussion lock with brass case and iron mechanism, hammer and fixing bolt. It must be mounted lengthwise against the right side of the lock plate and has a vertical fixing bolt and a notch at the bottom for this purpose. The hammer is pulled down by a chain, which passes forward through an eye, while a notch on the left side of the lock pushes it to the left; once down, the hammer is pushed back to the right by a spring; this is to prevent the hammer from being violently knocked back by the flame from the touchhole when fired.
