About this work
Percussion lock on a wooden trunnion of a 36-pound cannon. The lock plate is mounted on the right side against the lock elevation with two bolts passing through it, and two screws in the trunnion. The hammer rotates at a right angle to the barrel. The hammer consists of a curved piece of iron; the narrow curved end has a slot for the flame from the touchhole when fired. In the stock are two holes for the pull cord, and in the lock plate a disc through which the cord is led backwards. The wooden trunnion is that of a 36-pound iron cannon, French model.
