Model of Two Different Designs for the Gun Position on the Bow

Sketchy block model and waterline model of a ship's bow with a bomb cannon on a swivel carriage, incomplete. It has a bowsprit, the bowsprit and crane beams are missing, and a windlass is attached at the back. The cannon with swivel carriage rotates on brass swivel circles inset into the deck: a large circle in the middle, and small swivel circles on both sides of the bow. Faint scratches and nails in the deck indicate other possible rail positions. The knee holes are indicated with black paint. They are located below deck and the anchor chains or ropes must be led through tubes to the windlass on the upper deck; a black rectangle on the upper deck probably indicates the position where the tube comes above deck.
