Model of a Carriage for a 30-Pounder Gun

Model of a wheeled carriage, incomplete. The cross-bracing of the two parallel cheeks is formed by a diagonally standing axle box with breastplate and breast flap, the front axle box, and the sole plate which also serves as the rear axle box. The sole plate has a track for the wedge block and is extended with a beam to the front axle box; this beam is now missing. The wedge block has a track for the wedge; it is made of a different type of wood. It is not certain whether the wedge block and wedge, found separately, belong to the model. The upper part of the cheeks with the tappans is entirely of brass and attached with diagonal seams to the lower half. The wooden wheels are double and of equal diameter. The model has eye bolts, tappan covers, and other fittings.
