Model of a carriage on a baseboard representing part of a deck with a gunport. The body tapers towards the front. The cross-bracing between the cheeks consists of an axle box, a crossbeam in the middle, the sole plate at the rear, and the front axle box; the rear wheels have no axle box but hang in brackets. The cheeks have three steps. Between the axle boxes and the axle box in front and the sole plate at the rear, a sledge is attached, on which a brake against recoil works; this friction brake consists of an eccentric shaft running transversely through the carriage. The shaft has handspokes at the ends, which can be set in different positions with spokes in the cheeks, and presses a block against the axle box, so that the weight of the carriage rests on the shaft, which is pressed against the sledge. The sledge is a wooden frame equipped with a pintle bolt in the door threshold; at the rear, the sledge has two small rollers with their axes radial to the pintle bolt.
