About this work

Azimuth compass in a gimbal ring in a wooden box, the lid of which is missing. The gimbal ring can be turned for bearings. The compass has a fixed pelorus, the bowl is weighted with a lead weight at the bottom. The rose is made of mica, pasted with paper on both sides; it is hand-colored and balanced with some black lacquer underneath.
