Sword of honour with scabbard of Vice-Admiral Th. F. van Capellen

English officer's sword for marines, model "stirrup hilt", from circa 1805 (British Commissioned Naval Officers Sword). Hilt: Lion's head hilt of copper with ivory grip wrapped in copper wire. In the middle a shield with a crowned coat of arms. Quillon and half-quillon with two small shields with an engraved crowned anchor. The blade is double-edged. Damascened in blue and gold. On the front a female figure leaning on an anchor. Above it the initials G. R. with a crown. On the reverse Neptune with a trident on a shell. Above it a coat of arms trophy with the royal coat of arms. Signed. On the grip a medallion was attached, possibly from the civilian branch of the wearer.
