Memorial album of Roman Catholic clergy fallen during the Paris Commune

Album leaf with a green linen cover. Front cover decorated with gold-colored leaf and flower motifs in relief. The album contains 23 leaves of thick paper with a total of 53 pasted photos, four of which are loose. Most leaves are provided with English, French, and Latin texts in red and black ink, mainly proverbs from biblical books; also drawings of crosses and crowns and cut-out images of decorations. The photos are mainly portraits of Roman Catholic clergy who perished during the Paris Commune, a revolutionary government that was in power from March to May 1871, and related images. The compiler was possibly an Englishman from London.
