About this work
Allegory of the provisional peace reached in London between France and Great Britain, October 1, 1801. On the altar of peace, the French and British Maidens give each other the hand of reconciliation, the ring of eternity, in the presence of the angel of peace. The whole is illuminated by light coming from a sun with the Tetragrammaton. Above flies Fame with a trumpet and a palm branch. On the left, Deceit, Falsehood, and War are driven away.
