About this work

View of the Third Reguliers Gate built in 1654-1655 and the associated bridge in Amsterdam, seen from outside the city. Along the quay and on the bridge various figures. This stone gate replaced the earlier wooden Second Reguliers Gate. After the Fourth Extension and the construction of the Utrecht Gate (1664) this building had lost its function as a city gate. From 1669 it would be used as the Butter House. Part of a print series of Amsterdam city gates.
