About this work
On the bank of the river Styx a king is stripped of his mantle, crown and staff. On the ground lie symbols of worldly and spiritual power, as well as of wealth. These things the human must leave behind after death. Together with other sinners the king must sit in the boat of Charon. The demonic ferryman ferries them to hell. The print has a Latin inscription and is part of a series on the miseries that wealth brings.
