About this work
Death, in the guise of a skeleton with a scythe, sits on a chariot decorated with skulls. The spokes of the wheels consist of bones. Under the cart of Death everyone he meets is crushed: clergymen, kings, generals and children. In the background can be seen what all the dead ultimately await: to the left a burning hell and to the right the rising sun of paradise. The print has a Latin inscription and is part of the series about the Triumphs of Petrarch.
