About this work
The personification of Envy sits on a triumphal chariot driving along the coast. Envy has a emaciated body and eats her own heart. The triumphal chariot is drawn by two horses and driven by a young man. Other vices walk alongside the chariot. Print from a series of nine prints with triumphal chariots from the Antwerp Circumcision procession of 1561. The personifications on the chariots together depict the cycle of human action.
