Triumphal Car with Peace (Pax)

Triumphal carriage decorated with garlands of fruit, drawn by two horses (Concordia and Utilitas). The carriage is driven by Amor. On a seat sits Peace, olive branches in the right hand and on the head, laurel wreath in the left hand. To her right sits Wealth (Opulentia) holding up a crown. Next to the carriage walk Truth, Diligence and Justice (Veritas, Diligentia and Justitia). Print from a series of nine prints with triumphal carriages from the Antwerp Circumcision procession of 1561. The personifications on the carriages together depict the cycle of human action.
