Promotion print of Aegidius Le Maistre, 1665

Announcement of the promotion of Aegidius Le Maistre and the defense of his thesis "Conclusiones Philosophicæ" at the Collège d'Harcourt on 17 March 1665. Louis XIV, with a marshal's baton in hand, flanked by Louis IX the Saint, in hand a Hand of Justice. Two putti place a helmet adorned with a laurel wreath on his head. Other putti bring him a sword, an olive branch, and a shield depicting Hercules slaying the Hydra of Lerna. Below on a drapery a text with a dedication and a list of the theses to be defended in Latin. In the corners sit Neptune and Mars. At their feet lies a coat of arms.
