About this work

Ninus, founder of Nineveh and notorious general, rides on a horse, in his hand a flag with the image of a lion (Babylonia). The horse tramples King Oxyartes of Bactria. In the background a city view. Next to Ninus a lion with eagle wings emerges from the sea, a reference to a dream of Daniel (Daniel 7) about the rise of four kingdoms in the world. The print has a Latin inscription and is part of a four-part series that links four rulers from antiquity with the prophecies of Daniel.
