About this work

Julius Caesar rides on a horse, in his hand a flag with the image of an eagle (Rome). The horse tramples King Cyrus of Persia, Ninus of Babylonia and Alexander the Great. In the background a city view. Next to Julius Caesar a many-horned monster emerges from the sea, a reference to a dream of Daniel (Daniel 7) about the rise of four kingdoms in the world. The print has a Latin inscription and is part of a four-part series that links four rulers from antiquity with the prophecies of Daniel.
