About this work
Ahithophel and the Arkite Hushai advise Absalom on the war plan against King David. In the background, Jonathan and Ahimaas - who were to bring the news of the plan to King David - hide in a well in the courtyard of a man from Bahurim. His wife covers the opening of the well with a lid, so that nothing can be seen. Below the image, a reference in Latin to the biblical text in 2 Samuel 17.
