About this work

King Ahab lies disappointed in bed because Naboth refuses to sell him his vineyard. His wife Jezebel stands beside the bed and promises him she will ensure he obtains Naboth's vineyard. Behind Jezebel stands a group of maids, and in the doorway, palace guards. To the left in the background, a depiction of what preceded: King Ahab asks Naboth to surrender his vineyard. Under the depiction, a verse in Latin.
