About this work
Judas Maccabeus orders a number of law-abiding priests to purify the sanctuary and remove the stones that have defiled the altar to an unclean place. The defiled burnt offering altar is dismantled. Below the image a reference in Latin to the Biblical text in 1 Maccabees 4.
