Muslim galley slaves rest by a fountain. One of them smokes a pipe. These enslaved men are identifiable as Muslims by the characteristic hairstyle (shaved head except for a tuft) they were required to wear. The standing men with turbans are likely papassi (moollahs and representatives of the enslaved Muslims). In the background to the right, several ships are visible in the water.
