About this work
Abraham raises his knife to sacrifice his son Isaac, but an angel prevents him. To the left a ram is entangled in the bushes. It will be sacrificed in Isaac's place. To the right in the landscape the servants wait by the donkey. Below the image the title in Latin, a four-line verse in Dutch, French, German, and English, and a reference to the biblical text in Gen. 22.
