About this work

Vignette with the portrait of the personified Repentance in an ornamental frame. The frame is built up from a cartouche and shell patterns, at the very bottom a heart wrapped in barbed wire is depicted. Repentance leans against a stone and holds her hands on her breast while she looks up remorsefully. The print is part of a series of book illustrations on virtues and vices.
