About this work

Abraham, with a knife in hand, is about to sacrifice his son Isaac, but an angel stays his hand. To the right a ram in the bushes, which will be sacrificed in Isaac's place. To the left in the landscape the donkey and servants, whom Abraham had left behind. At the bottom in the margin a reference to the Bible text and the title in Hebrew, English, German, Latin, French, and Dutch.
