Triumphal Chariot with Poverty (Inopia)

The personification of Poverty, an old woman with torn clothes, sits on an old hay cart drawn by two emaciated horses. Next to the cart walk Patience (Patientia), Fragility (Fragilitas), and Slavery (Servitus). Print from a series of nine prints with triumphal chariots from the Antwerp Circumcision procession of 1561. The personifications on the chariots together depict the cycle of human action.
