The Adoration of the Lamb of God

Kings and Prophets - The 24 Elders from the Apocalypse - Depicting the text from the prophetic visions of John, which can be read on the print. Together with the heavenly hosts, they praise God, who sits on a throne and holds the book with the seven seals, with harp playing and bowls full of incense. The symbolic figures of the four evangelists John (angel), Mark (lion), Luke (ox), and Matthew (eagle) carry the music books, in which two voices of Pévernage's eight-part motet are represented. The elect hold palm branches in their hands and kneel in adoration before the Lamb of God, who appears on Mount Zion in a halo of rays, with the banner of the Resurrection. In the four music books, held up by the symbols of the four evangelists, are the notes of Pévernage's four-part motet on the text of Revelation 5.
