About this work

Caricature on the conscription of the Dutch peasant sons for the French army. In front of a house with the signboard: Dutch school, old men and children have gathered. These are described in the text as 'below the measure', 'defective' and 'young'. A woman warns against child thieves. The suitable young men flee from the conscription officers of the French army.
