About this work
A workshop for distillation. In the foreground a scholar reads the recipe for distillation from a thick book. Right foreground herbs are ground finely with a mortar by a young assistant. Center a large cauldron that is heated. In a painting on the wall a representation of a dining room. The print has a Latin inscription and is part of a nineteen-part series on new inventions and discoveries.
