About this work

In an oval frame an image: Apollo sits on a throne in the clouds. Around him the four seasons. His son, Phaëthon, kneels before him and asks if he may drive the sun chariot. Below the clouds Phaëthon is in debate with Epaphus before a temple. Epaphus does not believe he is the son of Apollo. In the oval frame a Latin text. The print is part of a series depicting the story of Phaëthon.
