About this work

The female personification of the continent Africa sits on a cart drawn by two lions. Next to her a crocodile. She holds a tambourine in the right hand and a parasol in the left. To the left in the background African animals such as lions, elephants and ostriches. In the foreground a chameleon. The print is part of a four-part series with personifications of the four continents.
