About this work
The god Mercury as personification of the planet Mercury in a triumphal chariot drawn by eagles. He wears the petasus and in his hand he holds the caduceus. He is accompanied by a rooster. In the upper corners the signs of the zodiac symbolizing his planetary children: Gemini and Virgo. Below on earth are the people born under the influence of this planet engaged in activities characteristic of these signs. In a harbor ships are being loaded and a performance is given on a stage. In the margin a sixteen-line poem, in four columns, in Latin referring to the metal mercury associated with the planet Mercury.
