God assigns various tasks to the three estates

God, seated on a cloud with cherubins, gives a command to the kneeling pope, emperor and farmer. The pope, as head of the clergy, must pray for the salvation of every individual (Tu precare). The emperor, together with the rest of the ruling class, must uphold the rule of law (Tu iustitiam exercere). The farmer represents the largest part of the population, the third estate.
