Man is Reborn and Destroys His Good Works

Two biblical allegories in architectural framing. To the left Man is baptized in the Spirit by God, who in the form of a man on the clouds lays his hand on Man. Because Man is thereby reborn, he is naked and has taken off his habit. The personifications of Reason and Conscience flee away. The personifications of Eternal Death, Disobedience and Sin lie felled on the ground by God. To the right Man beats his Good Works, in the form of a nun, with a club. The rosary, scallop shell and indulgences lie broken and torn on the ground. This representation symbolizes the man who no longer trusts in his own good works and strength, but in Christ alone.
