About this work
On the left, Gideon stands with a flail in his hand by the grain. He looks at the angel of God, who sits under a tree. The angel asks him, in God's name, to liberate Israel. In the background, the angel causes fire to burst from a rock, burning the food to prove that God is indeed asking for a favor. Behind this scene, the angel is seen flying away. Below the image is an inscription in Latin. The print is part of an album.
