About this work
The feast of Belshazzar, king of Babylon, with his courtiers and women. Belshazzar, seen from behind at the head of the table, sees a writing hand appear. On the table stand the stolen cups and dishes from the temple of Jerusalem. On the upper right, trumpeters stand on the balcony. Below the scene, a Latin reference to the biblical text in Daniel 5.
