About this work
Hercules, seated against a lion's skin and leaning on a dagger. A stag lies beside him. In the foreground lie his club, quiver, and bow. Opposite him are, among others, the Sphinx, the head of the Erymanthian boar, and the three-headed dog Cerberus, alluding to the Twelve Labors. Italian verse in the lower margin.
