About this work
A laurelled woman is wrapped in a starry robe and holds a scroll of paper and a lyre in her hands while seated. Her foot rests on a globe while she converses with a veiled woman standing beside her. Above the head of the veiled woman burns a small flame, a symbol of religious zeal. She points to the hill of Golgotha in the distance, where Christ hangs on the cross. In the foreground, next to the globe, lie books, a crown, and money.
