About this work

Woman, seen from behind, dressed in a spencer trimmed with fur over a dress with a train. 'Coëfure Asiatique'. Long shawl trimmed with fringe, draped diagonally across the chest like a sash. Further accessories: gloves, fan, flat shoes with bows and pointed toes. The print is part of a series of 142 fashion prints, of which 115 have been identified, published by J. Chéreau, Paris, 1799-1810.
