About this work

The personifications of the Old Faith with staff and stone tablets and the New Faith with cross, keys, and papal tiara flank a book with a title. Around the book stand the four beasts as symbols of the evangelists. Rays shine from a sun on the chest of the New Faith onto a globe directed at Europe. At the top, a dove flies in a halo of rays as a symbol of the Holy Spirit.
