About this work

Fire in a house on the Oude Schans in Amsterdam on 5 December 1658. The facade of the house collapses and kills firefighters and bystanders. Bystanders flee in panic in front of the house. To illustrate the old way of extinguishing fires and the dangers associated with it. With a four-line inscription in Dutch and French. Plate 4 in the Fire Engine Book by Jan van der Heyden.
