About this work
Fire in a sugar refinery on the Lauriergracht in Amsterdam on 29 December 1669. The fire is fought with old fire engines and water from the canal. Despite this the building burned down completely. To the right household goods are taken from an adjacent building. With a five-line inscription in Dutch and French. Plate 5 in the Fire Engine Book by Jan van der Heyden.
